NSI’s Miloš Hrnjaz presents at the 20th Serbian Political Science Association conference
Miloš Hrnjaz, NSI Researcher and faculty member at the University of Belgrade’s Political Science Faculty, presented a paper at the 20th Serbian Political Science Association (SPSA) International Annual Conference, which took place on 23 and 24 October 2026. The Conference brought together academics and researchers in political and social science from Serbia, the wider Balkans and other regions, including Western Europe and North America.

Miloš presented his paper, which was titled New World (Legal) Order, Krasznahorkai, and the Melancholy of Resistance, during the fifth panel, which focused on international law and the fractured world order.
Drawing on László Krasznahorkai’s novel The Melancholy of Resistance, Miloš addressed the crisis of the existing liberal international order and questioned whether emerging geopolitical visions, particularly those advanced by China and Russia, offer genuine alternatives. His presentation unpacked the role of international law, critical theory, philosophy, and literature in understanding the changing world order, and asked what resistance means when existing institutions and norms are under strain, yet credible alternatives remain uncertain.
The conference also featured keynote addresses by Ayşe Zarakol, Professor of International Relations at the University of Cambridge, and Charles Kupchan, Professor of International Affairs at Georgetown University and Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations.
