The New South Institute (NSI) has been accepted as an affiliate member of Southern Voice.

Southern Voice brings together think tanks across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. The network promotes evidence-based policy analysis produced by researchers in the Global South, working to address imbalances in whose knowledge and priorities shape international development debates. Its work contributes to dialogue on the Sustainable Development Goals and the wider development agenda.

The affiliation is closely aligned with NSI’s emphasis on research that informs the development of effective and accountable public institutions. Through its work on public service reform, migration governance and South–South dialogue, the Institute examines how institutions function, why reforms encounter obstacles, and what can be learned across different national contexts.

These agendas meet around a practical question: How can research inform policies and institutions that respond to people’s needs? Southern Voice’s emphasis on locally grounded evidence and greater participation by Global South researchers provides a relevant setting for that exchange.

For NSI, the affiliation marks a further step in its engagement with research and policy communities across the Global South, connecting its institutional focus with broader conversations about development, accountability and the use of evidence in public decision-making.
