The New South Institute (NSI) cordially invites you to attend the online seminar “Migration Trends and Possibilities in Africa,” scheduled for November 20, 2023. This seminar is a part of the NSI’s Migration Governance Reform Project (MIGRA), spearheaded by Research Fellow Alan Hirsch. - Alan Hirsch: A research fellow at NSI, Hirsch plays a key role as the leader of the MIGRA project.
- Michael Mulei Mutava: Also a Research Fellow at NSI, Mutava is the author of the report “An Analysis of Trends and Patterns of Migration in Africa“. His findings, which have been discussed in the African media, provide an in-depth look at contemporary migration dynamics on the continent.

- Diego Iturralde: Chief Director of Demography and Population Statistics at Statistics South Africa. His academic background and his leadership in establishing a national forum for migration and urbanization in South Africa provide a critical statistical and policy-oriented viewpoint on migration issues.
- Tsion Tadesse Abebe: A prominent African policy analyst on migration and displacement, Abebe serves as a Senior Policy and Research Officer at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Nairobi, Kenya. Her role as the chief editor of the IOM’s flagship report “The State of Migration in East and Horn of Africa” brings an essential regional perspective to the discussion.
